Adding Breast Lift to Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation in Chicago

Dr. Robert Galiano meets countless women who are unhappy with their breasts, but don’t know how to achieve the beautiful cleavage they want. Some of these women wish to improve sagging breasts and improve the volume of their breasts. In those cases, Dr. Galiano usually recommends combining breast lift with breast augmentation. This combination approach solves multiple problems with a single operation.

Read on to learn more about adding breast lift to breast augmentation.

Combining Procedures – Treatment Details

Combining procedures is slightly more complex than a standalone procedure, but the results are more transformative.

During a combination breast lift-breast augmentation surgery, the breast tissues are lifted and tightened in a more youthful position on the chest wall. Saline or silicone implants are placed to increase the volume of the breasts. Excess breast skin is removed and the remaining skin is pulled taut over the enhanced breasts. The nipple-areolar complex can be elevated on the breast and reduced if needed.

If you opt for a combination breast lift-breast augmentation, the specific steps of your treatment may be slightly different, depending on your anatomy and goals.

Signs You Might Benefit From Breast Lift With Breast Augmentation

You may want to consider breast lift with breast augmentation if you relate to any of the following scenarios:

  • You have had children and lost the full, perky breasts you once enjoyed. You have excess, loose breast skin and your nipples point downward or hang low on your breasts.
  • Your breasts have changed with advancing age and no longer look shapely and youthful.
  • Your breasts look “deflated” or flat after losing a significant amount of weight.

The candidacy requirements for breast lift with augmentation are fairly straightforward: you should be in good general health and close to your ideal body weight. You should not smoke; if you do, you should quit prior to surgery.

As far as timing your surgery, consider that if you recently had a child and breastfed, you will need to allow your breasts at least three to six months to stabilize after weaning your baby. And, if you plan to have more children in the future, consider delaying your breast surgery, as future pregnancies and breastfeeding can “undo” some of the benefits of surgery.
